~*~ Reflexology sessions ~*~

According to Mosby's Dictionary, Reflexology is "a system of treating certain disorders by massaging the soles of the feet, using principles similar to acupuncture". Research has shown that the hands and ears can also be stimulated to increase the benefits of the treatment.

Although reflexology is often considered in the same field as massage, it is actually an energy modality. In some states, it is subject to similar laws and regulations. Please check your local regulations to see if this applies.

I recently attended some reflexology training and am now offering reflexology sessions. These can be offered as stand-alone session, or in combination with my other session lengths.

Warning: Please have your feet and hands clean when you arrive. I cannot work on your feet or hands if you show any kind of fungus, or if you have problems with blood clots in hands or feet. If any other major health concerns exist, please consult your physician and get his/her permission to receive a reflexology treatment.

Here is how I have designed my reflexology session:

1. You will only be taking your shoes and socks off for this treatment. You will be sitting in a special reflexology chair, your feet in a warm foot bath with herbs or Epsom salt or other bath salts for relaxation.

2. While your feet are soaking, I will work on your hands and wrists. I will use cornstarch or powder instead of my massage oil to give me the appropriate traction. This should take about 10-15 minutes.

3. When the hands are done, we will dry your feet.

4. We will recline the chair to bring you into a relaxing position. I will be sitting on a stool or chair for this work.

5. One foot will be wrapped with a towel while I work on the other.

6. As I work across and up and down the different zones in the feet, you are encouraged to let me know if I come across any tender areas, or if the pressure is too much for you.

7. A reflexology session can be very intense, and sometimes draining of energy. You will receive instructions about recognizing after-effects of the detoxification of the process.

As a stand-alone treatment, this session should take about 40-50 minutes, but can take longer depending on what areas we find need help.

If you choose the Reflex/massage session, we will be transferring to the massage room at this time.
