This page is dedicated to the practice of Prostate Massage for Men's Health and Wellness. Due to a recent decision by the US Supreme Court ( June 2003), the practice of Prostate Massage is considered an action between two consenting adults in a private setting. Previous VA Code § 18.2-361 is no longer valid.
Much is written about the use of prostate
massage in the medical field, as therapy or prevention for prostate
problems. The medical community sees this service as part of wellness
care, as well as stress management for men. I will do my best to give
information useful to everybody, without being graphic or offensive. I have dedicated the past 8 years of my
life to medical research and training, helping find solutions from a
wellness-oriented standpoint. I use prostate massage as a
therapeutic tool for increasing wellness and as stress management,
alongside aromatherapy and nutritional consultations and other therapies
that increase awareness or provide relief from stress. In my practice,
prostate massage is not a separate service, but an integral part of
offering maximum care for my clients. It should be used as a maintenance
program for a healthy body or prevention program for cancer. 1. Historical background of prostate problems and cancer: Looking
back 20 to 30 years, it was men in their late 50's and early 60's that
were first diagnosed with enlarged prostates, and later in life
developed prostate cancer. In the past 10 years, this age group has
become the men in their late 30's and early 40's. Why is that??? Well,
believe it or not, changes in our lifestyles have a lot to do with it. --too
much work time, not enough family time, --sedentary lifestyle
(driving everywhere instead of walking), lack of physical exercise--
irregular eating habits like fast food or late meals,-- pesticides
in our foods that the body cannot eliminate, lack of vitamins and
nutrients in fruits and vegetables, --environmental influences like
air pollution and exhausts from the roads and highways, --social
influences like financial worries and lack of job stability (lay-offs,
downsizing in corporations), working in unsatisfying work relationships.
2. Many of these influences cause
stress on the body, the mind, the heart, the organs. The body has
several natural defense mechanisms to help deal with some of these
stress factors. One of the things I learned early when I started looking
into the field of stress management was the fact that when our body,
mind or our emotions are attacked for prolonged time, and there is no
relief or solution to the problem or situation, the body finds a way to
shut down the functions not necessary to deal with stress (i.e. find the
solution to the problem). One of the first functions to be shut
off is our reproductive system. This is valid for men as much as
for women.
3. Functions of the Prostate:
The prostate is an internal organ in men that holds seminal fluids. In its natural state, it is the size of a peanut. With age, or reduction in sexual activity, the seminal fluid can sometimes dry up, turning from a sticky jello-y substance to dried particles. These particles, on occasion, will hold on to the internal walls of the prostate. With time, those particles can turn cancerous.
4. How does Prostate massage help?
First, a word of warning: If you have active hemorrhoids, do NOT attempt this technique, it may cause the hemorrhoid to rupture, or cause internal bleeding.
Massaging the prostate directly is a delicate procedure. If you have ever had a prostate exam from your physician, you will know that. To protect both the giver's and receiver's health, always use a latex or vinyl glove, and suitable lubricant. Gloves are available in most pharmacy chain stores, or supermarket. Lubricants can be purchased online or in adult stores. I use unscented neutral massage oil.
Key element to a pleasant and relaxed prostate massage is to use extra care when working in this delicate area. It is imperative to pay attention to the recipient's body response.
One finger is inserted into the anus, slowly to let the body accept the procedure. This is the first test , if the anal muscles start clinching together, the provider must withdraw from the area. If the body accepts the initial contact, then slowly proceed toward the base of the penis inside until you find a small peanut size area. That is the prostate. When direct contact is made with the prostate, slowly run the finger around the area. As the massage continues, you will feel the area around the prostate swelling and becoming larger and harder. That is soft tissue , it protects the organ from damage and intrusion. As soon as contact is made, the particles that have adhered to the inside wall of the prostate will fall down into the main reservoir. The body then automatically starts expelling these particles. As they exit the body via the urethra, you can feel and see them. Sometimes they feel like sand grains or sugar crystals, I have seen them as large as rice grains. It is not relevant whether an orgasm or ejaculation follows or not. If the recipient is relaxed and enjoys the treatment, you may be able to stay right on the prostate all the way through the release. Sometimes the sensations become overwhelming and you have to retreat.
Sometimes the body and mind are not ready for this kind of "intrusion", even with the best preparations. Do not worry about it, just take your time, try it again another time.
